WebJun 1, 2014 · Raising the car will not make them leak. Hard impact, improper installation, or just lots of wear will make them leak. The struts/shocks are BMW brand in them now. It has the BMW logo on them. He said he didnt replace the springs just the shocks, this was at 105,000 he said he changed them. Shouldnt he have done the springs also? There need to be a small amount of oil coming out of the shock to keep the shaft lubricated, this oil will travel a short way down the body of the shock.
