It is an acquired disorder in which acute angulation of the SMA causes compression of the third part of the duodenum between the SMA and the aorta. WebSep 1, 2024 · SMA syndrome can be caused by a lot of different factors, most commonly due to a lack of proper food intake, too much or too little exercise and/or biological aspects. Combating the condition can be difficult and recovery may take anywhere from a couple of months to several years, with some never recovering at all.
